Srilanka banned on the imports of Johnson and Johnson baby powder

Srilanka has imposed a ban on the import of johnson & johnson baby powder. It was manufactured by American multinational firm.
Only the import of the Johnson & Johnson baby powder was banned. But the stocks that were already present in the nation's markets can still be sold to consumers.
The Johnson & Johnson baby powder import was banned until the company will prove that the product is free from asbestos.
Asbestos causes lung cancer. (i.e) Asbestos is a group of six materials that made up of microscopic fibers which can cause the damage to the lungs if inhaled.
The chief executive of Srilanka's National Medicine Regulatory Authority(NMRA), Kamal Jayasinghe said, "It had informed the distributor, A.Baur & Co., that it would require further tests for it to continue importing the powder".
Kamal Jayasinghe told Reuters, "We have held their re-registration and informed the distributor to submit quality reports from an accredited laboratory to ensure there is no asbestos in their products".
