Sri Lanka cable TV operators block Peace TV

Sri Lanka's two major cable TV operators are Dialogue and SLT. Both cable TV operators have blocked Peace TV from their channel list. The block of Peace TV came after the Easter Sunday bombings which killed more than 250 people.

Because Peace TV channel has been used by ISIS recruiters for indoctrination and brainwashing the youth.

Peace TV channel was founded by Zakir Naik. He is wanted by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) on charges of propagating terrorism.

"On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested an Islamic State sympathiser and follower, identified as Riyas Aboobacker, of alleged Sri Lanka bombings mastermind Zahran Hasim from Kerala", the agency said.

Aboobacker admitted that he wanted to carry out a suicide attack in Kerala. The 29-year-old told the NIA, "He has been following Hasim for more than a year and has also followed the speeches of Zakir Naik, an absconding Indian Islamic preacher and the founder of the Islamic Research Foundation".

Also his Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) organisation has been banned for five years.

However, India and Bangladesh have already banned Peace TV.
