About 200 American companies are seeking to shift their manufacturing base from China to India. And since the parliamentary election is going on the, the  US companies decided to take it further in post general elections, a top US-based advocacy group saidin an interview with PTI.  The US-IndiaStrategic and Partnership Forum's (USISPF) President Mukesh Aghi told PTI thatcompanies are talking to them about how to set up an alternative to China byinvesting in India.

Aghi said thatUSISPF's recommendation to the new government would be to accelerate thereforms and bring transparency in the decision-making process. In his reply towhat the agenda of the new Indian government should be to attract investment,Aghi suggested that New Delhi needs to accelerate reforms, be more transparentin the process and engage more.  He saidthat Mark Linscott, the former Assistant US Trade Representative for South andCentral Asian Affairs, is working with USISPF member companies to come up witha recommendation as to what India needs to do to enhance its exports and workup from that perspective. Aghi feels that India should start thinking of a FreeTrade Agreement (FTA) with the US as it will eliminate concerns of cheap goodscoming from China. He further explained that this will put barriers to Chinesegoods while providing the US access to the Indian market and Indian companieswill have more access to the US market, reducing issues like GSP. Aghi saidthat they have formed a high-level manufacturing council within the membercompanies, led by John Kern, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Operationsat Cisco who are putting a document together detailing what India needs to doto turn it into a manufacturing hub.

Most of the local peoplessay that they are not interested for the cheap China products as they did inthe past. Now the Indian customers are more peculiar in the quality of theproduct. The number of the quality Customers has been increased in the years -one the official said. The New Government is expected to do enormous work forthe Country.
