Whatsapp will stop working for Windows phone after Dec 31, 2019

Recently Facebook-owned Whatsapp announced in a blogpost that it will soon stop working for Windows phone on December 31, 2019. 

Whatsapp in the blog post wrote, "Because we will no longer actively develop for these platforms, some features may stop functioning at any time". It also warned Windows phone users that some of the social-messaging app's platform may stop working on Windows devices.

Also, WhatsApp blog post said that the app will stop working on old versions of Android (v2.3.7 and older) and iOS (iOS 7 and older) on February 1, 2020.

"Following Microsoft's recent decision to end support for Windows Mobile devices in December, WhatsApp will release its final update for Windows phones in June. WhatsApp will continue working on Windows phones through the end of the year", a statement said.

WABetainfo has claimed that WhatsApp is working on Universal Windows Platform (UWP) behind the scenes.

WABetainfo tweeted, "I've talked about WhatsApp Business for iOS, WhatsApp Business for Android, WhatsApp for KaiOS and recently about WhatsApp Messenger and Business for iPad, before any public announcement from WhatsApp. Today I can OFFICIALLY confirm that WhatsApp is working on UWP. It's real".
