Micro-blogging site Twitter is testing a new feature on Android to show news stories at top of the timeline. This new feature will help users to keep up with what is happening around the world.
On tuesday, Twitter product manager, Mashable quoted Wally Gurzynski said "With this update, weâre making it easier for people to see the news and stories their followers have been discussing while theyâve been away right at the top of their timeline".
The feature comes with a prompt that says, "Catch up on whatâs happened while you were away".
Earlier, Twitter released the features of "While you were away" in 2015 and "Never miss an important tweet" in 2016. But they were not specifically highlight the news stories.
Instead of focusing on interesting and popular tweets, this new feature will be focuses on news stories from news agencies and organisations.
The report added, "This catching-up with the news test feature is in line with the other tests that Twitter is running and are aimed at following specific conversations and newsworthy events easier.
The feature-test roll-out for iOS users and its final release plans remain unclear as of now".
