Three Golden Crowns were stolen in Tirupati temple
Jack Feb 03, 2019 15:15 ISTOn Saturday, Three golden crowns of the presiding deities, studded with precious stones, were stolen from Sri Govindarajaswami Temple, Tirupati.
The ancient Sri Govindarajaswami temple which is part of 18 sub-temples. It was built in 12th century by saint Sri Ramanujacharya.
The sub-temple gods of Malayappa, Sridevi and Bhoodevi crowns were stolen with weighs over 1,300 gm.
The temple priest noticed the theft on Saturday evening when the temple was reopened for rituals and the devotees. The police complaint was filed by the temple superintendent Sri Gyana Prakash.
As soon as the news of crowns theft spread several devotees, media personals and activists gathered outside the temple.
Local BJP activists and some party workers held a protest in front of the temple for demanding speed action and raised slogan against the state government.
