Taj Mahal has a time limit

Tourists would do well to keep track of time while gazing at the Taj Mahal's splendour. The Archaeological Survey of India has put a three - hour cap on tickets to the monument, with those exceeding the limit required to pay the original amount again. Earlier, visitors were allowed to stay from morning to evening on a single ticket. Entry tickets to the World Heritage Site range from Rs.50/- for Indian nationals to Rs.1,100/- for foreigners. Last month, Reuters reported that the Taj Mahal was set to get a baby feeding room in a first for India.
The great TajMahal is joining the list of attractions that are seeking to control crowds. (The Louvre Paris staff also recently went on strike due to overcrowding). While this may seem to be a regressive step, it could also be seen as an opportunity for other beautiful, lesser known and less promoted attractions to stake claim for more attention. Travellers on the other hand, get an opportunity to discover new attractions that have the same appeal in terms of historical significance, architectural splendour and emotional appeal. Other regions and destinations benefit from travellers spreading across places. In short, as travel increases (UNWTO's figures last month indicate a robust industry performance despite many challenges), there's got to be more places that people should be made to explore. That's the opportunity travel presents to businesses, the economy as well as travellers. In this case, anyways ticket prices are not so high even if people want to spend an entire day, is it?
