Swachh Survekshan 2019- Chennai was in 61st place
Jack Mar 08, 2019 00:19 ISTOn Wednesday, Union government announced "Swachh Survekshan 2019" at a function in New Delhi.
Based on the survey which covered all urban local bodies in the country, Swachh Survekshan Awards are given by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This Survey was the largest cleanliness survey in the world.President Ram Nath Kovind gave the Swach Bharat Mission-Urban awards.
Indore was awarded as the cleanest city in India for consecutive three years. Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh was in second place and Mysore in Karnataka was in third place.
Ahmedabad was declared as cleanest big city with more than ten lakh population category.
Ujjain was declared as cleanest medium city having 3 lakh to 10 lakh population category.
New Delhi Municipal Council area was declared as the Cleanest Small City award.
Best performing states- Chhattisgarh is at first place. Jharkhand is at the second place while Maharashtra is at the third place.
Chennai was in 61st place from 100th place last year in the category of cities with over one million population category.
Trichy was in 39th place from 13th place last year. Coimbatore was in 40th place from 16th place last year.
Trichy and Coimbatore are the only two Tamil Nadu cities on the top 50 list of Swachh Survekshan 2019.
