President Ramnath kovind gave his nod to 10% reservation for general category "poor"
The lok sabha passed a bill providing 10 percent reservation in government jobs and education to economically weaker sections in general category on tuesday.
After the constitution (124th amendment) bill, 2019 approved in lok sabha then this bill will pass to rajya sabha on wednesday.
Earlier, this bill approved by both the houses of parliament then the bill will pass to the president for approval on today(jan 12, 2019). Now, President Ram Nath Govind gave his nod to 10% reservation for "economically poor" in general catagory.
Many Tamil Nadu politicians were oppose this bill providing 10 percent reservation for general category poor peoples. Thambi Durai, Tamil Nadu MP were gave the speech against this bill in Lok Sabha and he saidl âWhen the government has so many programmes to uplift the economically weaker sections, then why do you want reservation for them? I would say that you have failed to implement your programmes⦠That is why people are still economically weaker and this is why you are coming up with 10% reservation,â.
Note:
The people with an annual income below Rs8 lakh and having less than five acres of land would be eligible under this 10% reservation category.
