PM Narendra Modi received prestigious Seoul Peace Prize 2018 in South Korea

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the prestigious "Seoul Peace Prize 2018" for his 'Contribution to international cooperation and fostering global economic growth'. Modi is the first indian to receive Seoul Peace Prize 2018.
PM Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to South Korea. During this visit, India and South Korea signed seven agreements. This was PM Modi's second visit to the country. The visit aims at strengthening partnership between the two nations as well as bilateral trade and cultural ties.
Last year in october Seoul Peace Prize was announced to modi by the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation. Today PM Modi received this award. A short film on the life and achievements of Modi was also screened at the event.
At a grand ceremony, The award was presented to him by the Seoul Peace Prize Foundation. While conferring the award on Modi, the Award Committe recognised his crediting "Modinomics" for reducing social and economic disparity between the rich and the poor.
Modi said at the event, "The success that India has achieved in the last five years is due to aspirations, inspiration and efforts of the people of India. On their behalf, I accept the award and express my gratitude".
Also Modi tweeted, "The Seoul Peace Prize is dedicated to the people of India & our country's culture of peace and harmony".
Modi is the 14th recepient of the award and previous winners of this award includes former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and international relief organisations like Doctors without Borders and Oxfam.
