PM Narendra Modi launched PM-KISAN scheme in Gorakhpur

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The scheme which was announced by Piyush Goyal in the interim budget 2019-20. Now it will be started by making an electronic transfer of the first installment to farmers. For this scheme Rs 75,000cr was allocated for 12 crore small and marginal farmer families.

A senior official of agriculture ministry said, "By transferring the first installment of Rs 2,000 each to over one crore farmers. Another one crore farmers will be covered in the next two or three days".

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, Rs 6,000 per year will be given to farmers, whose having below 5 acre land. The amount Rs 6,000 will be given in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. This scheme completely funded by the central government.

The amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme to ensure the transparency in the process.

Modi told to farmers, "This is your money and no one will be able to take it from you". He will also lay the foundation stone for various projects in Gorakhpur.
