PM Modi will inaugurate National War Memorial in Delhi on February 25

On february 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National War Memorial near India Gate.

A senior official said, "The prime minister will dedicatebthe memorial to the nation on February 25. The defence minister, chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force will be among the dignitaries present on the occasion".

Earlier, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat said, "The National War Memorial will include a wall that will carry the names of those soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. The memorial would be iconic and serve as a new landmark which would attract people from near and far".

Today, While addressing the nation on Mann Ki Baat PM Modi said, "The National War Memorial will include a wall that will carry the names of those soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. The never ending wait after nation's independence for a War Memorial is about to be over. India not having a National War Memorial used to surprise me and really pain for me. This new memorial has been built near India Gate ,  Amar Jawan Jyothi".

In 2015, the government had approved the project for building a National War Memorial and a National War Museum near India Gate in memory of over 22,500 soldiers who laid down their lives post-independence.
