Nirmala Sitharaman met Wing Commander Abhinandan at a hospital in Delhi
Jack Mar 03, 2019 00:03 ISTIndian Air Force (IAF) pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was released from Pakistan custody and after 60 hours he returned home on march 1. He was handed over to the Indian authorities around 9.30 pm at the Attari-Wagah border.
After he crossed over into India, Indian Air Force (IAF) took him by road to Amritsar and by IAF plane he arrived in Delhi around mid-night.
Now, Abhinandan underwent a medical tests as part of a "cooling down" process.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Wing Commander Abhinandan at a hospital in Delhi on March 2.
Defence Ministry Spokesperson tweeted, "Defence Minister meets the Air Warrior Abhinandan Varthaman at his hospital room in Delhi to convey the sentiment of the Nation. Appreciates his impeccable combat skills as well as calmness in adversity. Interacts with the family and the hospital staff too".
After he crossed into india, Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, "Proud of you Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. The entire nation appreciates your valour and grit. You held your calm in the face of adversity. You are an inspiration to our youth. Salute. Vande Mataram".
