Indian carriers are sparring over Jet's foreign landing slots; Air India - the only carrier with long-range and wide-body aircraft-is expected to get half the slots from Jet's over 350 international routes. The rest are to be divided among other airlines, according to the size of their domestic operations. Indigo stands to benefit the most because of its scale but rivals have their objection in this rule. The Air lines like SpiceJet, Vistara and GoAir is not satisfied and have objected to the formula, arguing it would create a monopoly. What they recommend is: equal distribution of slots, or temporary grants to airlines already flying the same routes.
The story-What all has happened in these 30 days?-Jet Airways lost its CEO, CFO and Deputy CEO-Lost majority of its employees (Pilots, Stewards and other ground staff) to competitors and other businesses-Most investors interested initially backed out of the final bid process-Lost most of its international and domestic slots to competitors-Around a third of its shareholder value have been depleted. Nobody expected these happenings to the giants and still the well-wishing hearts are there for the Jet. But the some of the experts says, "Jet cannot be revived"
The company has NO assets but has outstanding debt of 1.3 billion dollar. Outstanding payments are in excess of 2.0 billion dollar. Total liability hence is close to 3.5 billion dollar. Why would anyone in their right mind invest in Jet Airways?
Average fleet age is 9.49 years.
