ISRO launched PSLV C44 with Microsat-R and Kalamsat successfully
The Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) successfully launched the imaging satellite Microsat-R and Kalamsat from the first launch pad of the satish dhawan space centre, Sriharikota in its 46th flight. The launch countdown started on last evening at 7.37 PM. The launch was scheduled at 11.37 PM.
PSLV C44 placed with 740 Kg primary satellite Microsat-R. Microsat-R is an imaging satellite used for military purpose. About 13 min 26 sec into the flight the rocket would lift off Microsat-R in a lower orbit at an altitude of about 274 Km from earth. It begins to function at an altitude of 450 Km in an hour and 40 Mins.
The Kalamsat is the lightest satellite weighing about 1.2 Kg payload. The fourth stage of rocket with co-passenger Kalamsat in a higher circular orbit of 453 Km to establish an orbital platform for carrying out experiments.
Kalamsat was a Tamilnadu students satellite. Kalamsat is a 10 cm cube Nanosatellite. It has a life span of about two months. It is useful in many fields especially in disaster management.
For the first time, "ISRO used the aluminium tank in the fourth stage of launch of PSLV C44. This aluminium tank is used to reduce the weight and increase the mass in the four stage engine expendable rocket with alternating solid and liquid fuel.
Narendra modi tweeted" Heartiest congratulations to our space scientists for yet another successful launch of PSLV. This launch has put in orbit Kalamsat built by India's talented students".
Kalamsat is the first satellite to used in the fourth stage of vehicle(PS4) as a platform to orbit around the earth.
PSLV C44 was the first launched satellite by ISRO in 2019.
