"Hefty discounts" on last minute bookings announced by Air India

Air India has decided to offer a "hefty discounts" for last minute bookings on domestic routes. On friday, the airline took the decision during a commercial review meeting at its headquarters.

Generally, airlines sell the last minute ticket at very high prices. Now, this hefty discounts will be a boon for the people, who book a ticket on last minute for emergency travel.

The tickets can be purchased from all outlets including the company's booking counters, mobile app, travel agents and websites.

"Generally, an emergency leads to the last-minute demand. Such a traveller is faced with very high ticket prices. So, for domestic sector, the national carrier has decided to make a 'very last moment inventory' of available seats within 3 hours of departure. These would be sold at a hefty discount, normally exceeding 40 per cent of the selling price", Air India said in a statement.

Further the statement said, "This decision in the aviation sector will be a big boon to the last-minute travellers".
