Google launched its new app Bolo in India

On Wednesday, Google India launched a new app 'Bolo' across the country. It aims to help the children in rural areas, improve their reading and comprehension skills. It is available in both Hindi and English.
The Bolo app works in offline also.
The free app 'Bolo' uses Google's speech recognition and text-to-speech technology with a tutor named "Diya".
"Diya can not only read out the text to your child but also explain the meaning of English text in Hindi", Google wrote in a blog post.
Over the past few months, With the help of ASER Centre, we have been piloting Bolo across 200 villages in Uttar Pradesh, India. In just three months, we found that 64% of children showed an improvement in reading proficiency.
So, now the "Bolo" free app was launched across the country.
In india, Bolo app will be available on Google Play Store for all smartphones running Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) and higher.
"Over the next 6 months we will be working closely with four of our nonprofit partners of Pratham Education Foundation, Room to Read, Saajha and Kaivalya Education Foundation - a Piramal Initiative - who have extensive experience of working in this space and will be able to take Bolo to more children and further expand our efforts across India", says Nitin Kashyap, Product Manager & Zohair Hyder, Engineering lead for Bolo, Google India.
Currently, the app is designed and optimised for native Hindi speakers but in over time the company plan for other languages.
