BJP MP Virendra Kumar appointed as interim speaker of the Lok Sabha

On tuesday, BJP MP Virender Kumar was appointed as the pro-tem or interim Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Seven-time parliamentarian BJP MP Dr Virendra Kumar will be the temporary Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Virendra Kumar (65) is the lawmaker from Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. Virendra Kumar was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1996.
On the basis of his experience in the Lok Sabha, the interim speaker is appointed by Rashtrapati Bhavan. Virendra Kumar is the third most senior parliamentarian in the Lok Sabha.
The first session of Parliament will be held from 17 June to July 26. Kumar will administer the oath of office to the newly elected Lok Sabha MPs and will be presiding over the meeting of the Lower House. The permanent Speaker will be elected on June 19.
