Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu sits a day-long fast protest for special status of his state
Jack Feb 11, 2019 22:37 ISTOn Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was sitting on a day-long fast protest to demand special status of his state. He launched 'Dharma Porata Deeksha'- a day-long protest for injustice at the Andhra Bhavan to urge the centre to fulfil promises made when Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
Before starting his protest, Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat and the Ambedkar statue at the Andhra Bhavan. A day-long fast protest for justice was begun at 8 am and end at around 8 pm today.
On February 12, He will also submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind.
Chandrababu Naidu said, "The Modi government did not fulfil the assurances given in parliament. Not even a single assurance given at the time of bifurcation is fulfilled. Even the centre is showing discrimination, we have no option other than protesting. The funds given for backward states are taken back in the fourth year. Today we came here all the way to protest against the central government".
Naidu protest was joined by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Dr Manmohan singh, Farooq Abdullah, Nationalist Congress Party's Majeed Memon, Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal, Sharad Yadav.
